FAERIE ACADEMY!
LEAF MASK MAKING by Toby Froud

This workshop will use Greenman / leaf mask imagery in a personal exploration of the seasonal faces of the spirit of the forest. After a short, guided meditation contacting personal and individual forest spirit images, we will make foliate masks reflecting those images. Toby will both help each individual in the mask making process and will bring examples of his work using foliate images and leaf masks. No experience of meditation or mask making is needed.

WENDY FROUD WINTER 2009 WORKSHOPS

Wendy Froud will be in the USA for a brief teaching tour in February and March 2009. She also anticipates another tour in the fall with a focus in the eastern/Midwestern USA. WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

Three Day Sculpting Workshop
The class size is limited to 12 and is taught by both Wendy and Toby Froud.  The is a unique opportunity for a very special three-day experience. Three days will allow us to come near completing a fairy or other fantastical creature. Day One will include connecting to your faerie guide, building an armature and sculpting the head, hands and feet. Day Two will include constructing the body. Day Three will include final costuming, the application of hair and fabrication of wings. Each day we will be working from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with an hour off for lunch from 1:00-2:00 PM.

Cost: $585.00 and includes polymer clay, armature wire and a selection of materials for hair, wing and costumes.

Advanced Two Day Workshop
This two day workshop has a prerequisite of previous attendance in Wendy's three day workshop. Students are required to bring a sculpted and cured figure on an armature. The focus of this class will be on advanced techniques in painting, application of hair and costuming. The goal of this class is to experiment, not to complete a figure. Each day we will be working from 10:00AM to 5:00 PM with an hour off for lunch from 1:00-2:00 PM.

Cost: $395.00 and includes a selection of materials for hair and costuming.

BRIAN & WENDY GUESTS OF HONOR AT TROLLS & LEGENDS
April 10th - 12th Mons, Belgium

Brian & Wendy will be the Guests of Honor at the Trolls & Legends Festival on April 10th-12th in Mons, Belgium. This will be their first visit to this fantastic event. There will be an exhibition of Brian's original paintings and Wendy's doll sculptures as well as a booth for the sale of their books, prints and DVDs. The festival features an amazing line up of music performers including Qntal, Woodland (making their premiere performance in Belgium), Omnia, Louisa John- Krol, Deomonia Nymph, Cecil Corbel and other great bands. This is a very rare opportunity for the our European fans to meet them, get an autograph and see Woodland and Qntal perform with the Good Faeries/ Bad Faeries Lightshows.

BRIAN AND WENDY FROUD TO HOST FAERIEWORLDS FESTIVAL AND BONDING CEREMONY!

Brian and Wendy Froud will return to Eugene, Oregon to once again host FAERIEWORLDS on July 31st - August 2nd. In addition to meeting fans and signing their books, the Frouds will lead a very special Bonding Ceremony on Sunday for all couples, friends and loved ones in honor of the marriage of their son, Toby, to Sarah Morgan on July 18th. With performances by Faun (US premiere!), Woodland, Beats Antique with Zoe Jakes, Delhi to Dublin, the Wicker Men and many more bands as well as on-site camping for the first time, this promises to be the best Faerieworlds ever!

Breathing Life into Puppets
with Toby, Wendy and Brian Froud
Using Toby’s basic muppet-type puppet, participants will create a unique puppet head of their own adding elements such as eyes, brows, nose and hair to create expression. Toby will then provide instruction in finding your puppet’s voice and ways to animate the puppet to breathe life into its character. This workshop is appropriate for ages 13-adult. All materials are included.

THURSDAY JULY 30TH
Creating a Faery Portrait – a One Day Workshop
by Wendy, Brian and Toby Froud
We will begin with a short, guided meditation in which we will encounter one or two faery beings that will be totally personal to each person taking the workshop. We will then sculpt a faery character portrait bust ( head) using the faeries we met in the meditation for inspiration. We will paint the heads and finish with hair, fur, feathers or whatever each character needs to bring the portrait to life. This is similar to the three day workshop that Wendy teaches but we will only be sculpting and finishing a head which we can actually complete in one day.We will supply everything needed for the portraits but please feel free to bring sculpting tools if you have some as well as hair, fur, feathers or whatever you wish to decorate your portrait with.

This is more about having fun and creating something from your own imagination as quickly as possible than a serious, sculpting workshop. We will however demonstrate sculpting, painting and embellishing techniques and everyone will be given as much individual attention as they need to complete a portrait.

This workshop will run from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm

TOBY FROUD: WEST COAST WORKSHOPS!

Two Day Rod Puppet Workshop
October 17-18, 2009 (full) - Yaxley Gallery, Reno, NV

Toby Froud will lead participants through his process for creating imaginative puppet characters. During the workshop, you will sculpt the puppet's head and hands in polymer clay. You'll learn Toby's design for building an effective rod puppet mechanism with articulated head movement; participants will also explore costuming and finishing techniques. Cost: $150.00

Two Day Marionette Workshop
November 14-15, 2009- Truckee, CA

Toby is also offering a two day marionette workshop especially for middle and high school students.  Students will sculpt head, hands and feet in polymer clay; participants will learn how to create a jointed body and marionette controls using easily accessible materials. Cost: $150.00 and includes all materials.
