An
Enchanting Divination Kit Inspired by the Art and Wisdom of
the Phenomenally Successful Good Faeries/Bad Faeries:
THE FAERIES' ORACLE
In his beautifully
illustrated, super-selling book Good Faeries/Bad Faeries,
acclaimed artist Brian Froud offered a tantalizing glimpse into
the otherworld of pixies, trolls, gnomes, and green men. While
drawing and painting these timeless mystical beings, he uncovered
clues for 21st century mortals who would like to connect and communicate
with them. Now, in his enchanting and evocative follow-up, THE
FAERIES' ORACLE: Working with the Faeries to Find Wisdom, Insight,
and Joy (A Fireside Original/Simon & Schuster; October
31, 2000; 208 pages, with 66 full-color cards; $25.00), Froud
invites us to journey into Faeryland and understand its magical
powers through the popular practice of divination.
Whimsical, inspirational,
and fun, THE FAERIES' ORACLE combines a delightfully
enlightening book with a dazzling deck of sixty-six faery divination
cards. Written by Jessica Macbeth, an accomplished "faerynaut,"
the engaging text explains precisely how to mine the world of
faeries for insights into the heart, the soul, and the future.
Beginning with an imaginative journey into the realm of gnomes,
moon dancers, and boggarts, the book introduces the most powerful
and important members of the faery kingdom, all radiantly rendered
by Froud on the cards. >From there, it provides clear and detailed
instructions on how to read the cards, with special attention
to issues of spiritual enlightenment and personal direction.
Along the path to
enriching and empowering insights, mortals will meet:
The
Singers in the Realm, known by a multitude of human-given
names--angels, devas, gods. These are the "Great Ones,"
whose wings span the multiverse. They are constantly with
us, watching and waiting to be called upon for guidance.
The
Sidhe, also known as the "Old Ones" (even when
they are young). These lords and ladies of Faery create, nurture,
and build the worlds and their inhabitants. Yet they are also
available to us individually as guardians, teachers, and comforters.
Faery
Guides and Guardians are devoted to helping humans develop
our own special gifts and live more harmoniously with nature,
with each other, and with the faery kingdom.
The
Help-Line Troupe, the "wee folk" who assist
us in daily life--and sometimes, in spite of their best efforts
to be helpful, add more than a little confusion to our routine
tasks and ongoing challenges.
The
Faery Challengers, a bodacious bunch who bring us face
to face with our fears, our denials, our insecurities, and
our misbehaviors, and test our alertness and awareness.
Sure to captivate
fans of tarot and divination, and to intrigue many who enjoy
exploring the virtual universe, THE FAERIES' ORACLE opens
a wondrous journey of adventure and discovery. As readers and
players fall under the spell of the faeries unique magic
and find their own paths toward personal fulfillment, they will
come to share Brian Froud's conviction: "Faeries are not
a fantasy but a connection to reality."
