Guidelines for joining the World of Froud webring

Thank you for your interest in joining the World of Froud webring. This ring was created for fans of Froud to share their websites which are related to all things in the realm of faery and/or inspired by the work of Froud. This webring is designed to be viewable for all ages.

Content Guidelines:

  • Content must primarily be 'fantasy' related.
  • We prefer sites that have an original, unique feel to them.
  • All sites must be easy to navigate
  • All sites must display the WOF webring in SSNB Code format (not html)
  • The language displayed on all sites must be in English or have an English version of the site as this ring is based in Canada, USA and UK. If using a translation, the WOF webring must be displayed on the English version of your site.
  • The page in which the WOF webring is being displayed must be listed via your site's navigational menu or be displayed on the main entry page of your website.
  • Your site must comply with the World of Froud webring guidelines as well as the World of Froud Terms of Use and Copyrights.

We do not accept websites with the following content:

    • Content that is primarily link exchanges
    • Content that is primarily displaying Froud artwork
    • Placement of the WOF webring on a page that does not have an obvious method to view your site's materials
    • Content that is displaying ANY of the following 3rd party items (items not created by yourself) without permission:
      • artwork
      • any form of textual materials such as lyrics, prose, stories, etc.
      • music
      • EXCEPTIONS:
        • You sell items from various artists whereas you give credit/display artist information. An example of acceptable usage can be found at duirwaighgallery.com.
        • You have permission to use 3rd party items such as cliparts, websets, text, music, etc. from the original creator/owner. Artist information and permission must be notated in an obvious location. This form of usage is acceptable unless your site primarily displays third party items and does not display original items of your own. More often than not, using works from 3rd parties is a form of copyright violation.
    • Web sites that display illegal material and/or infringe on copyrights (Visit whatiscopyright.org and rightsforartists.com for more information.)
    • Web sites that infringe on World of Froud copyrights
    • Web sites that are 'member' sites. I.E.: MSN groups, Yahoo groups, Fan Lists, etc.
    • Web sites that display pornographic, 'mature audience,' and/or violent material since this ring is meant to be seen by all age groups.
    • Websites that are still 'under construction' or have 'little' content.

We have the right to refuse site additions based on site content.

Web Ring Display Guidelines:
Once you have completed your submission to this webring, the following must be displayed accurately within 7 DAYS or your site will not be approved.

  • The WOF webring must be displayed in SSNB code format on the exact location as your listed URL. HTML code option will not be allowed. For example, if you list your web site as www.webring.com/index.html when you sign up, you will need to place your specific SSNB code on www.webring.com/index.html.
    • If you are a member of multiple site rings hosted by Webring, our link must be displayed on your web site rather than on the multiple webring links page. If you need assistance for listing our site on your page, please see below.

Once we see the webring on your web site and the content has been approved (see content guidelines), we will add your site to our webring. Unfortunately, if our webring has not been accurately placed on your URL by this deadline, your submission will be denied.

Multiple Webring links through the WebRing database:
If you are a member with multiple rings through the WebRing database, you will need to 're-order' your webring stack to have our webring displayed on your website. To change the order of your webrings, sign into webring and click on 'My Rings.' From the side bar select 'View Web Sites.' Locate your website that you have joined to the World of Froud webring and select 'Get SSNB Code'. In the top paragraph of the page there is a bullet point that says: "To change the order in which navbars show on this stack, go here." Click on 'go here.' This page will show you the current order of your rings. Scroll down and click on the link that says 'change order' and follow the directions for changing the order of your webrings.

What if you have multiple webrings that require it to be displayed on your URL?
You will need to split your ring stack via WebRing or 'uncheck' the box stating to list one ring only.

To change display mode:
Sign into webring and click on 'My Rings.' From the side bar select 'View Web Sites.' Locate your website/U# that you have joined to the World of Froud webring and select the U# (edit). Uncheck the box that describes how to list only one ring ("Show just navbar being surfed..."). Click on the 'Change' button.

To Split Ring Stack:
If you prefer to split your ring stack, WebRing will provide you with a new 'U#.' This means that you will then have two U#'s and two SSNB codes for the one website. By splitting your ring stack you would have to copy and paste both SSNB codes on your URL and change the order of each stack, if needed.

Sign into webring and click on 'My Rings.' From the side bar select 'View Web Sites.' Locate your website/U# that you have joined to the World of Froud webring and select the U# (edit). At the very top of this page click on change ring stack and follow the directions.

To learn more about this procedure and other options with WebRing please visit wrug.cjb.net and review their Quick Reference Steps section.

I agree to these rules and want to Join the World of Froud Webring!***
